Mixed Breed Information

History of Designer Breeds

It's hard to say exactly what started the trend of mixing breeds to create a hybrid. Most seem to think that hybrid dog breeds have existed for quite some time. There are ideas that the Cockapoo was the one that started it all. This designer breed was first known to be mixed around the 1960s. Others seem to think that the creation of the Labradoodle was the beginning of the designer breeds. It is not easy to say for certain how the origin of the hybrid breeds came about but we do know that to date the hybrids or designer breeds have grown to great popularity. This is due to the fact that most designer breeds are mixed with one of the hypoallergenic breeds which cause the resulting mix to carry those same traits. This means that many people who suffer from allergies to dander and animal fur can own a pet with ease. Little dogs and big dogs can be bred together to create a miniature mix that gives the new owner exactly what they are longing for.

Designer Breed Appearance

The appearance of the Designer breed can vary, this is based on the parents that were bred together to create this new hybrid. The results will almost always vary so it becomes very difficult to even guess as to what the offspring may look like. Even within the same litter, each pup may look slightly different than the other. This may include coloring, marking, facial features, and measurements.

Designer Breeds' Temperaments

Just as with the appearance of the Designer breed, the temperament will vary as well. The easiest way to gain an idea as to what your new hybrid puppy may act like is to look at the parents. The temperament of the parents will surely be the best way to figure out how your new designer pup may act. This is not always the case, as we have seen with purebreds as well, but it is the closest we can get to understanding what to expect. If the parents are home raised and well socialized, it is safe to say that your new puppy will be outgoing and non-aggressive based on how well adjusted both parents are.

Designer Mixed Breeds' Roles

The Role that your new Designer pup may play is again based on the bloodlines of the puppy and your lifestyle. If you are a loving, and devoted individual chances are your puppy will act the same way towards you. The puppy will learn your routine and how you live your life, and in turn will carry on the same traits. It truly is based on good bloodlines and the way in which you choose to live.
